Navigating your adult life

Navigating life as a young adult can be stressful, tiring and difficult. Especially if you work a full time job or have children. There are a range of tips that can help ease the stresses of adult life navigation which I will explore in this post!
Plan your weeks: keeping organised is a great way to keep up to date with all the things going on. If you are working at all, make sure you include things you are going to be doing outside of work. Meeting friends in the evenings after work has really helped with the maintenance of work life balance and I feel like I get much more out of my day. You can plan your days hourly, taking note of super important events and meetings. Planning your week also allows you to see how much free time you have. This can be done manually in a diary or year planner or even on your phone. There are a variety of unique planner designs and diaries out there!
Make time for the things you enjoy: with so much going on, it is imperative with organising your time, you make room for things you enjoy. Wether it is physical activity e.g. cycling or dancing or even travelling, making time for things you enjoy really eases the stress of navigating life. I also find that making time for hobbies and interests makes me look forward to each week more and more. Thinking about things I used to enjoy as a child are things I often end up doing when I make time for it now.
Take time out for yourself: Even if it just 5 minutes, taking a moment for yourself can help ease the mind and re-energize. Taking time out for yourself can range from meditating to treating yourself to a spa day! There really is a lot you can do. You can even use the time out for yourself to learn a new skill. It is important to understand that taking time off can become extremely relaxing, but do not forget as an adult, responsibilities still exist!
Adult life can be strenuous, but it can also be enjoyed! What things do you do to make the most of life? Feel free to share in the comments section!

  1. First off I would like to say wonderful blog!
I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.

I’ve had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost simply just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Many thanks!

    1. It really does become a struggle between doing the things we want to do and doing the things we have to do. Finding the balance is half the battle, awesome post! Very relatable! 😊

  2. Being an adult is a lot harder than expected 😖 Haha, but I really enjoyed this post. The biggest thing I need to take more time out for myself.

    1. Great tips, adulting can be hard sometimes. When I’m stressed I visit the library, find something new to read, make some tea, and relax with my new book.

  3. Seriously, taking a few minutes with my planner on Sunday nights has kept me on task. So important for me to be organized or I will procrastinate and get nothing done! This also allows me to schedule time for the gym or a jog daily, as this clears my head. Great tips for adulting. It is a rough job!

    1. Love this! These tips are very helpful(as I continue to struggle to get the hang of adulting lol) I definitely have to start planning more…. that’s the one thing I absolutely suck at.

  4. This is why I love blog threads on twitter! Great post and also I love the design of your blog, the blue text look really good against the white background… I always do the old breath in for ten seconds and breath out for ten seconds to stop me exploding haha!

Would love it if you would check out my blog, I’m trying to buy a house and it’s proving harder than I imagined 🙁 http://iwanttobuyahouse.co.uk/2018/10/04/no-spend-weekend/

  5. I really needed to see this post because I’m struggling with navigating life now I’m transitioning to real adult life from full time and part time education. I usually daily plan but now I might start to weekly plan so that I don’t get overwhelmed with what I’m doing and I also don’t book myself up too much. Thank you for sharing this post, it was so well written and presented.

  7. Love this! I’m an extremely organised person, but I still struggle to navigate this adult life. I’m an entrepeneur, have another job, run a blog and I’m a mommy so things tend to spiral out of control real quickly. Reading this post definitely made me want to get back to basics again and take a step back.
    Great post!

    1. Wow, you must be really organised! Thanks for reading and I do hope you manage to keep up with all your amazing work!

  8. Really loved this post and definitely need to integrate these suggestions into my daily life. Thank you so much for sharing!

  9. Adult life certainly can be stressful. I work 40-50 hours a week and have two little ones (5yo and 3yo). Between work and preschool and life, things can get hectic. I’ve started diffusing stress essential oils in our home and I’ve noticed an atmosphere that is a bit calmer. Great post!

  10. I love this post. Navigating my young adult life has been challenging as I decided to become a parent at 16 and now Im 28 with 3 children. I love the journey, but growing up while raising kids made some of the mountains I crossed a lot higher than they had to be. I am learning the importance of self care and finding things that make me happy is so important.
