Best products for beautiful Afro hair

Dealing with natural afro hair can be exhausting and finding the right product for healthy and long hair can be difficult, and it doesn’t help that all hair types are different and all product doesn’t always work for everyone. Well, i am providing a few products that seem to work for most hair types and is pretty reliable. (One product that is super unreliable to me is coconut oil, this is because some people swear by this, however i myself and so many others hair cannot stand it, it either dries your hair out or i just plain grease with no benefits) however ill still include it on the list.

Castor Oil

Castor oil has countless benefits for afro hair and i personally think, the thicker the hair, the better you feel the benefits, solely because the hair doesn’t get too greasy.

A list of a few of the benefits are;

  • protects hair from damage
  • thickens hair
  • keeps your hair soft
  • reduces split ends
  • controls dandruff
  • reduces split ends

Coconut Oil

So many bloggers and influencer swear by coconut oil, even personal friends love coconut oil, however with all of this, it doesn’t agree with my hair. it dries it out even when turning it greasy. It’s not all about me though, if so many people recommend this product, it definitely can help some hair types then, so it belongs in the list. This product has helped so many of friends hair grow.

Cantu Shea Butter

Cantu was my first recommended brand when i started my natural hair transformation. it is an amazing brand that really looks after afro hair and plus it smells great. The leave-in conditioner leaves your hair feeling softs and ready to style. i have the dryest hair known to man, so i love this moisturiser, because it makes my hair feel hydrated.

Baobab Oil

Baobab oil is a great oil for everything, It can be used to treat dandruff/dry scalp, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. but for your hair, it’s wonderful for skin and hair regeneration because it helps improve damaged hair. obviously, if you have damaged hair, my absolute advice is to get rid but we know some of us value length so much, so what can help is Baobab oil.

Shea Moisture Deep Treatment

Afro hair needs regular deep treatment because almost all the elements are fighting against our beautiful natural hair. It’s a constant dilemma of wanting to style and show your beautiful hair but having to go with a protective style because you’d rather not be bald headed by the end of the day. I mean cute protective styles are a thing, but sometimes letting go of the hair is what you want to do. Well, you can do if you look after your hair and choose the right deep treatment to repair all those damages and hair breaks.

Shea moisture is a wonderful brand that really looks after our hair but their deep treatment is truly a blessing for the hair. This deep treatment leaves your hair feeling healthy and moisturised.

  1. The thing that works for my hair was to invest in pricer shampoos that do not have sulfates and paraphens but oils. Its like $20 a bottle Here are the amazon links for the ones I live by

Also I do not use regular conditioner, only leave in conditioner like this one instance

I use them twice a week at least and my hair is softer and grows.

  2. I am experimenting with new products and definitely would like to try castor oil. I am currently alternating between argan oil and Blue Magic–aka hair grease. Just curious–what do you think of Blue Magic or any hair grease on the market these days?

  3. These are great suggestions! I’ve been looking for a deep treatment to try on my hair! My friend also raves about deep treatment masques, I guess I should try it out!

  4. I actually heard about Jamaican castor oil a year or so ago and I love to put it on my hair. I don’t always use coconut oil, but sometimes I may add it here and there. Great suggestions!

  5. These are all great suggestions. I live by coconut oil! I find that the benefits depend on how refined the oil is. It also helps to mix in some essentials oils as well.
